Campus Resources for Transfer Students

OATS - Organization of Adult and Transfer Students

OATS - Organization of Adult and Transfer Students

OATS is a student organization founded by former transfer students to help incoming students adjust to campus.

We offer you all that we’ve learned about the ins and outs of campus life and academia here at U-M, a place to socialize and meet others in various stages of confusion or adjustment similar to your own, and anything else we can think of that we wish someone had offered us when we came here!

Center for the Education of Women (CEW)

For over 40 years, CEW has supported the educational access and success of nontraditional students, many of whom are students transferring to U-M from community colleges. These students are supported through our counseling program, where students can talk with a counselor about how to go about applying and transferring to U-M, or navigating U-M to make the most of the resources available once they are here.

CEW also offers programs on topics of relevance to community college transfer students, such as balancing their studies with work, making the transition to a four-year college, and family obligations. Additionally, CEW’s scholarship program, open to students with an interruption in their education of four or more years (which is true of many community college transfer students), has provided much needed financial assistance to these students. In the past five years, 10-15% of CEW scholarships have been awarded to community college transfer students.

Finally, CEW’s library provides informational resources on topics such as career decision-making, applying for undergraduate and graduate school, job searching, and scholarship on women. All of CEW's services are available to students, faculty and staff of the University of Michigan, members of the surrounding community, men and women.

We support Transfer students

The Office of New Student Programs acknowledges the unique and differing needs that exist between first-year undergraduate students and transfer students, despite their shared experience as new students at the University of Michigan.

Transfer Connections provides an opportunity for new transfer students to connect with mentors and access a network of faculty and staff who are knowledgeable about navigating the University of Michigan. Transfer Connections seeks to ease the transition of transfer students into the University of Michigan.
