School of Education
Students must have completed 54 semester hours by the term in which they plan to begin course work in the School of Education. Submit application online through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Students are encouraged to work toward the completion of the following requirements prior to admission.
Secondary Education:
- one course (3-4 semester credits) in English composition
- one course (3-4 semester credits) in introductory psychology
- eight to twelve semester credits of humanities
- eight to twelve semester credits of social science
- eight to twelve semester credits of natural science
- a minimum of nine semester credits of pre-requisite or required coursework in the field chosen for their teaching major
Elementary Education:
- nine semester hours in creative arts (including two of the three methods courses: EDUC 427, MUSED 408, and physical education-PE 336 or PE 354)
- nine semester hours in humanities (English composition, philosophy, and one elective)
- nine semester hours in mathematics (Math 385, 489, and one elective)
- nine semester hours in natural science (three hours in each of the following: biological science, earth science and physical science)
- nine semester hours in social science (U.S. history, introductory psychology, and one elective)
